As Oasis Marine continues to pioneer offshore charging it was a huge honour to have received the “Vessel Charging Innovation of the Year 2024” award from Electric & Hybrid Marine.
Our goal is to aid maritime decarbonisation through solid marine engineering solutions. We’ve identified offshore charging as a key piece of infrastructure required for the transition to a green maritime industry. The Oasis Power Buoy is designed to be intuitive for mariners, providing an integrated mooring and charging solution. This maximises the charging potential leading to higher energy savings and safer operating conditions when compared to charging solutions located on fixed assets e.g. Turbines.
We are currently working on the second-generation Oasis Power Buoy designed for charging of windfarm crew transfer vessels (CTVs) used in the maintenance of offshore windfarms. There is strong industry desire and imminent regulatory pressure for vessel fleets to decarbonise and adopt green propulsion solutions. The obvious green power choice for vessels operating around windfarms being renewable electricity.
We have been working on developing an offshore charging solution since 2019 and our Oasis Power Buoy solution is now known internationally. There are many challenges still to overcome in this innovative area and we look forward to continuing this development and deploying our Oasis Power Buoy, fully connected to an offshore windfarm, for a demonstration in 2025.
The Electric & Hybrid Marine Awards 2024 were presented live on Day 1 of Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe in Amsterdam. In the Vessel Charging Innovation of the Year category, Oasis Marine took home the award for the Oasis Power Buoy, an offshore charging solution due to commence a pilot scheme in 2025.
“It is a great honour for Oasis Marine to be awarded Electric & Hybrid Marine’s Vessel Charging Innovation award. We have been pioneering and driving forward offshore charging technology since 2020 with our Oasis Power Buoy development, initially designed for charging windfarm maintenance vessels offshore. To have our work recognised here is a great reflection of the hard work put in by our team as we support the transition to net zero by providing critical offshore charging infrastructure.”
